We guide youth to make safe, positive choices, raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and the risks of gang involvement.
Our Story
Mawar Community Services (MCS), previously known as Muslim Counselling Service, was set up in 1978 as an offshoot of Majlis Pusat. Majlis Pusat was established in 1969 by Malay/Muslim leaders to forge unity within the community, especially during uncertain times following the separation of Singapore from Malaysia.
The name change in 2024 was to reflect a more inclusive approach that MCS was not only open to Muslims but ex-offenders from other races and religions as well. The word counselling was also replaced with community because of the community-related work in which MCS beneficiaries and ex-offenders are involved.
Our Programme
Prison Learning Journey
The Prison Learning Journey offers participants an immersive insight into Singapore’s rehabilitation landscape and the realities of incarceration. The programme features a guided tour of a mock-up prison and drug exhibits, providing a deeper understanding of the effects of substance abuse and life behind bars. This is followed by a prevention talk by ex-offenders on drug and gang prevention, who share their personal experiences, challenges, and transformation journeys to raise awareness, foster empathy, and inspire positive change.
Yakin Sabar Istiqamah (YSI)
Yakin Sabar Istiqamah is a Quranic-based programme designed to help participants strengthen their confidence (Yakin), patience (Sabar) and steadfastness (Istiqamah) in everyday life. Through interactive sessions, reflections and discussions, participants learn to apply Quranic teachings to overcome challenges, build resilience, and nurture a positive character. The programme encourages practical, faith-driven growth, inspiring individuals to live with purpose, stay consistent in good practices, and face life's ups and downs with calm and confidence
Climb for Good
Climb for Good is an adventurous hiking-based programme that takes participants on a transformative journey of physical endurance, personal growth, and social impact. Participants undergo regular training in Singapore, gradually building strength, stamina, and skills to prepare for challenging overseas expeditions. The programme emphasises teamwork, perseverance, resilience, and camaraderie, encouraging individuals to push their physical and mental boundaries while learning to support and inspire one another
